A future for humans
AI is encroaching on all sectors of our economy. Demand a political response to license and regulate all use of AI in order to preserve opportunities for humans.
We aim to ensure that any licensed use of AI would see to an essential task that could not have been done otherwise, and to see that its endless frivolities don’t saturate our world with content that we can’t compete with.
The industrial revolution was one thing… this is different.
The industrial revolution gave back what it took in terms of jobs and its transformative effect made us all richer. The only thing AI will give us is widespread obsolescence in the job market and a glass ceiling for those that aspire to earn a living doing creative work.
What precedent is there?
AI technology itself and its capabilities are unprecedented but the cold war was the story of humanity grappling with the creation of a most devastating technology; nuclear weapons. Due to the danger, nations came together to sign treaties which banned tests and may have averted a nuclear catastrophe.
The catastrophe we face with AI is different but nevertheless we must ask ourselves what sort of future we would like to live in.
