Founded in 2023, we are the AI action group with the broadest scope in the UK.

Addressing an existential problem

Backing the creators

Art and design are, and always have been, one of mankind’s most important vocations; expressing one’s thoughts and ideas for the benefit of others. The creator and the consumer both matter, and AI threatens to chop the creator out completely. As US copyright law now states, art must be created by humans for humans and, therefore, the creative industries must be kept free of AI-generated content.

Join the cause

We need more members. Politicians will only listen if many people all vocalise their concerns clearly on firmly-grounded principles.

The evidence and cause for concern are present now and will grow with time — wasting too much time as we wait for real problems to start emerging out there in the world will be detrimental, so it is best to go by what we can see already and then act to stop it from getting worse.

Standing up to the companies

OpenAI was ostensibly founded to democratise the technology but instead, having realised the money that there was to be made, turned into a for-profit and are seeking to dominate the field. Google follows closely behind and the race to the bottom begins. The perverse economics of machine learning will drive these companies to soak up what they can, so political action is urgently needed.

Technology and our future

Mankind has been developing its tools for millennia and, as it does, our quality of life and opportunities get better, but this is not true of everything.

Certain kinds of technology are found to be too destructive or pernicious, and machine-learning falls into that category. Just as we have destructive and non-destructive forms of nuclear technology, the former of which has been subject to several bans, so there are too dangerous and useful applications of AI, which we must distinguish in law.

Why this campaign?

This is a campaign focussed on machine-learning AI and its capabilities across all sectors; it isn’t just about artists, or just about programmers but instead the whole world and the effects AI can have anywhere — general-purpose legislation can, and must, address the problem of AI wherever it may be used.

There are economic and philosophical points to be made on the topic of AI but the problem is clear whichever perspective you may take. This campaign recognises all those relevant arguments and takes into account the concerns from all sectors.
